Problem Statement
A leading furniture manufacturer collaborated with 91³Ô¹Ï Engineering to help develop an innovative product line to enhance provider-to-patient communication, support technology, and adapt to a variety of medical settings.
Research and Methodology
91³Ô¹Ï Engineering researchers analyzed industry trends and UX data through user surveys, exam room visits, interviews, and online research. The top criteria were categorized and analyzed, product requirements were validated, and new opportunities identified.
Ideate & Design
91³Ô¹Ï Engineering hosted many rounds of Whiteboard Workshop events with the customer to brainstorm, sketch, and design possibilities. The ergonomic, communication, space, and adaptive requirements were concepted. User feedback on the concepts was gathered and analyzed.
Build & Verify
91³Ô¹Ï Engineering developed works-like and looks-like prototypes for the mobile tables and docking solutions. The prototypes used true-to-process parts and height-adjustable actuators from customer suppliers. 91³Ô¹Ï Engineering assessed manufacturing feasibility and cost targets.
Reactions & Final Product
The product was initially showcased at NeoCon. It won the Nightingale Gold Award in the Furniture: Clinician Support category at the 2017 Healthcare Design Conference.
