NYC Pier 26 Wall Panels & Seating

Design Engineering

Problem Statement

Landscape Forms—a world-renowned, outdoor-furniture design company, asked 91³Ô¹Ï Engineeringto become an extension of their team on a prestigious Pier 26 in Hudson River Park redesign. 91³Ô¹Ï Engineering was tasked with taking a stunning, ecologically-minded wall panel and seating design and make it manufacturable. The scope of the project was so expansive that 91³Ô¹Ï Engineering was called in to do the design engineering for manufacturing for phase two of the three-phase project.

Design & Engineer

As with other projects 91³Ô¹Ï Engineering has done with Landscape Forms, this was a massive one-of-a-kind build. 91³Ô¹Ï Engineering had to figure out how to engineer a wooden, 400-foot-long wall with integrated windows that started at 42 inches and rose to seven feet and then descended back to handrail height. In addition to the wall, 91³Ô¹Ï Engineering had to engineer a 35-foot-long bar, bar stools, and a 95-foot bench.

Reactions & Final Product

91³Ô¹Ï Engineering’s design for manufacturing worked perfectly for the team at Landscape Forms. The wall, bench, and stools are not only aesthetically gorgeous with seamless lines and hidden fasteners—but they are built strong enough to withstand East Coast hurricanes.
